I finally finished my first big embroidery project (loosely based on the “Perennial Monogram” design from Stitched Gifts).
The M is for my niece, Madison.
I made it into a pillow for her nursery. It’s a basic envelope pillow that I’ve made a few times before.
The secret to embroidery is patience. I learned that, like sewing, I need to be in the right mood to embroider. The end of a stressful day is not really a good time for me – broken threads and knots are enough to make me scream at that point. This project came together mostly while I was watching Downton Abbey on Netflix. It doesn’t get much more mellow than that.
I’m hooked on embroidery at this point. I have a big idea for a project in mind, but I think I’ll get back into sewing for a while first – plenty of things to do on my 2013 list.

I know Madison will love it! She’ll be a lucky girl to have an aunt as beautiful and talented as you!
Thanks so much, Dad. I appreciate it!
Wow! This is impressive. I cannot fathom how long this took you. It looks amazing! I could never do this. Way to go
Thanks, bud. It was definitely slow going, although I have no idea exactly how many hours I spent on this thing. Here’s hoping the next one is a little faster.
